How does Lovely People test for STIs?

Gonorrhea/Chlamydia?

Gonorrhea and chlamydia screening can be done at home by using the Lovely People test kit. A sample of urine or a swab, is typically sent to a laboratory, which checks for chlamydia and gonorrhea DNA. This type of testing, known as PCR, is much more accurate than other methods used for gonorrhea and chlamydia testing.

HIV, Hep B, HCV, Syphilis TPPA?

HIV, Hep B, HCV, Syphilis TPPA testing at Lovely People uses dried blood spot (DBS) testing to detect proteins only present in those pathogens. A DBS sample is typically sent to a laboratory, which checks for HIV, Hep B, HCV and Syphilis TPPA.

What will my results tell me?

This test will tell you whether or not you have been infected with any of the following pathogens:  Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV or Syphilis TPPA.

Any adult that participates in unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex is at risk on contracting STIs. Laboratory testing results interpreted by a medical doctor is the only way to confirm if you are infected with an STI.

What are common STI symptoms?

Often times, symptoms of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea go unnoticed, or are mistaken for other ailments (yeast infections, bladder infections, ect). Common symptoms of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea include:

If I am positive for an STI, can I receive treatment?

Receiving a positive STI diagnosis can be a very stressful ordeal. Every STI is different, and carries with it, its own treatment requirements. All Lovely People labs are CLIA/CAP approved. Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP) approval is a certification laboratories can obtain.
